My experience of mental medicines

The right way to use this page is to print it and to show it to your doctor, there is a lot of second hand information here that may be dangerous. I suffer from renewing psychosis. Psychosis is a short time period (about 2 days) mental disorder when I am crazy. Leponex (the active ingredient is Clozapin, the medicine is also called Froidir) is a schizofrenia medicine and also gives protection against psychosis. In a mental hospital there is forced medication. This may be perhaps well established because a person in psychosis can be dangerous to oneself and other people. Psychosis patient may be inclined to have an accident that could be avoided with medication. My Leponex amount was 4 100mg tablets a day the first time (there are tablets of 100mg and 25mg). The medication is started carefully with a small amount (25mg tablets and the half of them). About one of hundred the Leponex causes blood picture decline (probably the amount of white blood cells can diminish and immune system deteriorate (?)). That is why with the Leponex medication there comes a bloodtest every month (every week for the first 4 months) In addition Leponex may cause increased pulse so that the blood pressure and pulse are controlled in the begin of the Leponex treatment. In addition if one suffers high temperature or throat pains one has to go to the blood test because Leponex may cause it.

The good point in Leponex is that one gets a good sleep, on the other hand it is also the bad point because it causes dependence, quitting Leponex causes insomnia. I have usually before a psychosis insomnia so that if no insomnia, no psychosis, that is Leponex may really help against psychosis.

My Leponex amount was 4tbl (100mg) per day the first time, the doctor quit it in the following way: 1 tbl a month the amount was diminished. When one got down to one tablet the doctor adviced that one would diminish only half a tablet so that there will be no insomnia. I was in a hurry and did not want that. I got a horrible insomnia two three days after quitting Leponex and I almost vomitted, I felt so bad. After four months I got a psychosis.

The second time the amount of medicine was 3,5-4,5(?) 100mg tablets a day. I diminished the portion of medicine 1tbl a month (1/2 tbl in two weeks). When I got down to 1tbl I diminished to 1/2 tablet for a month and then quitted. I got a horrible insomnia that was not effected by the sleeping pill (Tenox and one other sleep medicine). After two three days I increased the portion of Leponex to 1tbl for one day so that I could sleep and then diminished it to 1/2 tablet for two months. The doctor said that this should not be done, after quitting Leponex one should start with half of 25mg tablet that is 1/8 100mg tablet. Then I diminished Leponex to 1/4 100mg tablets for one month, and then 1/8 tbl that is half of 25mg tablets for two weeks after which I got psychosis.

It worries my that the doctors do not seem to know how to quit Leponex. Side effects of Leponex are the end of sperm production and extraction of a lot of spit and perhaps a lot of sleep. In addition it causes increased pulse.

Another psychosis medicine is Zyprexa that causes impotense that however ceases after three four months. I have not noticed any positive sides of it.

Then panic attact medicine, Temesta helps. Also Diapam is recommended but once when I tried it it did not end the panic attack.

I had once in mental hospital a horrible medicine that caused shivering and stiffness. Fortunately there was another medicine that helped to the side effects.
